Thank You for Attending #SKY4Year

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, we hosted our fourth annual community celebration and charity fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! In just two hours, we raised $1,430 for our chosen charity, The Country Friends! And that number will be going up! We will be donating 20% of any sales that result from the consultations scheduled at the event.

The doors opened promptly at 6:30 p.m. Guests received their SKY swag bag and had a little photography fun on the "red carpet" - fittingly purple in our case! - before heading upstairs.

Upstairs, guests spoke with our experts about skincare, injectables & fillers, and laser treatments while enjoying cocktails by mixologist extraordinaire Tiffany and appetizers from Culinary Concepts.

Guests also participated in our Opportunity Drawing where 100% of ticket sales went to The Country Friends and guests had a chance to win some of our most popular SKY services, including A Year's Worth of Botox, Perfectly Pouty Lips, and the Glowing Skin Package.

Congratulations to our ten lucky winners: Theresa, Laura, Beatriz, Chloe, Theresa, Cori, Matthew, Michelle, Kirstin, and Deb! We also had a little fun with ticket sales since it was all for a good cause - the person who purchased the MOST tickets was our Golden Ticket Winner and got to choose from any of the Opportunity Drawing prizes! We were delighted to see Connie, part of our extended SKY Family, win this honor! Congrats, Connie!

The evening was not only a celebration of the fourth anniversary of our opening in 4S Ranch, but also a chance to recognize Dr. Yoo for being named Best Facial Plastic Surgeon by Ranch & Coast Magazine for the fourth year in a row! We were honored to have Ranch & Coast Magazine's team attend our event.

Together with our industry partners, we donated more than $9,000 in SKY services to make this night a fundraising success for The Country Friends. Giving back is a big part of who we are at SKY and we are grateful for our community's support. If you were not able to attend, but would like to support our chosen charity, then keep reading!

The Country Friends is a local nonprofit that helps people in need in our community, with a special focus on women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. “We first heard about the good work of The Country Friends in 2015 at their Art of Fashion fundraiser,” explains Amber. “I was immediately impressed by the powerful impact they've had on our community for more than sixty years. We've been sponsoring the Art of Fashion ever since and are happy to be able to give back even more this year through our #SKY4Year celebration.”

Supporting People in Need Since 1954

The Country Friends was founded in 1954 by a group of charitable women on a mission to support human care agencies in San Diego County, with a special focus on women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Women who joined the group paid an annual membership fee, held regular membership meetings, and coordinated several fundraising efforts throughout the year. Two of those fundraising efforts, launched by The Country Friends in its first year, are still going strong today: the Consignment Shop and The Art of Fashion.

The Consignment Shop is located in Rancho Santa Fe, and is run by volunteers and members of The Country Friends.

The Consignment Shop

In its first year, The Country Friends was gifted a small shop in Rancho Santa Fe, which they renamed the the Trader’s Shop and is now simply the Consignment Shop. Staffed completely by volunteers, the shop continues to be the primary source of funding for The Country Friends, re-selling antiques, art, crystal and furniture. Today, the consignment shop has expanded its footprint on the corner of El Tordo and Avenida de Acacias.

Last year, Amber attended The Art of Fashion fundraiser held annually at The Inn in Rancho Santa Fe.

The Art of Fashion

Also started in 1954 was what has become the largest outdoor fashion show in the country, The Art of Fashion. Held annually at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, what started as a poolside amateur fashion show with tea and homemade sandwiches has evolved into one of the premiere style events in Southern California, featuring the Fall/Winter collections of South Coast Plaza fashion designers. We are proud to be a 2016-18 Art of Fashion sponsor and to have our VP Amber serve on this year's event committee!

The story behind The Country Friends is a powerful example of the big impact a small group of dedicated volunteers can make. What once started as less than 200 members has swelled to more than 2,000 today. Over the past 64 years, The Country Friends is responsible for providing nearly 14 million dollars to human care agencies throughout San Diego County!
